The EviL BibLE

I was on the internet the other day and found a website called evilbible.com this website is written from an atheistic view and has a lot of anger in it toward God and Christians. (quote from the site: "The so called “God” of the Bible makes Osama Bin Laden look like a Boy Scout. This God, according to the Bible, is directly responsible for many mass-murders, rapes, pillage, plunder, slavery, child abuse and killing, not to mention the killing of unborn children.")

It seems that there is no shortage of reasons (excuses) for a person not to believe in Christianity or the Bible. Or at least not with a clear conscience (the atheist would say). You see us Christians has committed a sin that is very hard to recover from, the sin of hypocrisy. In my short life to this point (24 yrs) I've seen no shortage of persons claiming there is no God because we Christians who claim to believe in this fabled God do not live a life that reflects the very teaching we put forth. I ask you, is there anyway we can remedy this? Is there no hope for us, since we will not be perfect until we get to Heaven? Has God left us here in a state of hopeless failures, where we will continually cause damage instead of repair?
I believe there is a very basic, biblical, and moral way to begin to change the we Christians are viewed by the world. We must have a humble spirit and realize as we talk to people that we are still sinners and imperfect just as the to whom we are talking is. Since we have recieved God's gift of salvation that we did not earn or deserve, this then should lead to a spirit of humility. We did not receive this gift because of anything we have done.
We can then address the person sitting or standing across from us with a tenderness and love because we know the confusion and anger they feel as they try to reconcile what they see in the world and in history, and what we Christians say about God. As we let them know we care, genuinely care about them and not just noching another soul in our conversion belt. They will at the very least be able to see that we are not out to crush them into Christianity, and that even though we have received a gift we did not deserve we are the same as them in the sense we still mess up and need people to accept us with all of our warts and wrinkles. The best part of communicating in this way is that we will allow God to work through us and be able to see God work in the lives of others, because we will not be getting in the way!!
Now, will people still reject and hate God & Christians...of course, but it will not be because of something we did in our interaction with them. We humans can come up with thousands of reasons why not to believe on our own, why do we need to fuel the fire.
